Off to See the Witches: Book Con in Salem

For the second year, Susan Stradiotto and I were at Getting Witchy with It in Salem, MA, a book festival focused on dark romance, romantasy, and paranormal fantasy stories. This year, the Anja Barrons dark romance motorcycle club (MC) books joined us in greater force.

I want to first thank all the readers that came to the event, and I want to thank all those who supported us as indie authors. That doesn’t have to include buying our books but just interacting with us, being kind and mindful of us and others, and celebrating all the good books.

Indie authors are nothing without our readers (and their reviews), and we thank all the readers who are willing to pick up unsuspecting authors and to read your favorites.

Susan and I had a great time at Getting Witchy with It! We met new readers as well as saw some of our friends from last year. This included someone saying, “Aren’t you the person who took your pants off last year?” I cannot confirm or deny that, but I planned better this year on attire.

I would like to say that Susan and I made quite an impression last year and brought our blue dildo back this year for another round of ring toss. (It’s that kind of event if there were any questions.) We thankfully had some people who were willing to play, but I would suggest that people practice for next year at Getting Witchy with It 2025.

On a personal note (as if this hasn't been personal enough for me), I want to thank all the readers who support a queer writer like me. While the blue dildo is a draw in, I would yell "I've got sapphic too," and people would turn their heads, recognizing a fellow queer reader. I met other queer authors too, and we helped to raise each other up.

Throughout the whole book convention--as a writer and reader--I felt at home with my fellow book lovers, nerds, and dragons.
