In this addition of would you read this book, I'm asking for help on writing book blurbs for my upcoming duology.
As an indie author, I often go to the readers for help about editing, marketing, book covers, etc. I find this feedback helpful to better expand my writing and editing craft as well as my marketing abilities. Being an indie author requires being a life-long learner, which includes writing and rewriting book blurbs. I have recently updated both my Castle of Skulls and Lake Superior Mermaid series book blurbs.
In November 2024, I am hoping to publish the first book in an upcoming urban fantasy duology. The second book will be published early in 2025. I will be coming to readers throughout my final processes for help on book blurbs, book covers, and more. Keep an eye out!
Note: Books, book information, etc. is subject to change.
Also, spoilers are ahead! Book 2's book blurb will include minor spoilers based on it being the second book in the series. I'm sorry.
Book 1)
The trees see everything. But they won’t tell me who’s killing us.
Maisie and twelve sister witches venture into the mortal world when they wish, not that Maisie likes to go into it often. She prefers the woods and the sea to the constant noise. The coven is supposed to protect, but all that changes when a sister is murdered.
For the last three years, eighteen-year-old Maisie has been under the tutelage of the knowledgeable Daphne Duvay as sisters have come and gone. Maisie relies on Daphne as much as her sisters in a difficult time like this, unable to trust her magic.
As Maisie grows closer to the murderer, she’s scared who she will find and her own magic. People think her power is about growing flowers, but it can break the world in half. Maisie has to save her sisters, even if that means giving into the magic that threatens to consume her.
For fans of These Witches Don’t Burn and Wild Is the Witch, the duology the Coven Thirteen is about found family and the power of girl magic.
Would you read this book based on the blurb?
Yes!
No. I'll tell you why in the comments.
Book 2)
The trees have eyes, but they didn’t see. Neither did Maisie.
When Maisie joined the coven three years ago, she didn’t know her life would break apart. Her family, her sisters, her mentor…. Her magic and the danger from both inside and outside the coven have left her unable to function most days.
Her coven, though, is able to move on. With the numbers so low, they put out a call for more witches. They want to be back at thirteen. When covens start getting slaughtered, they must be at thirteen witches.
Maisie fears her coven will be next. As much she wants to help, she doesn’t trust her magic over the last earthquaking disaster or her who sisters who let the murderer in.
Read the thrilling conclusion to the Coven Thirteen duology.
Would you read book 2 based on the blurb?
